CLEAN WATER

In recent years, the Ugandan government has spent millions of dollars carrying out campaigns geared towards the provision of clean and safe water as a way of promoting health and hygiene, focusing on preventing cholera, Bilharzias, and other water-borne related diseases. However, 40%-60% of Ugandans still lack access to safe drinking water, and this has exposed many Ugandans to diarrheal diseases.

Our Approach

Living Word Gospel Care Foundation is doing the following to promote access to clean, safe water; –

  • Providing low-cost water filtration systems (filters with buckets) and training community members on its use and maintenance. We have so far given out 30 filter buckets
  • Researching opportunities to partner with organizations to support the development and implementation of safe water supply plants in the community.
  • Training the community members on environmental sanitation techniques (ESTs) to reduce water contamination both from the source and at household levels, lowering the risk of sanitary disease outbreak.
  • We also embark on building water harvesting tanks in community, schools and churches. We also embark on water spring protection.
  • We plan to construct some bore holes in some villages that are several miles away far away from other sources of water when we get funds.
